It can be hard to stand out among the hundreds of bands that play
the annual CMJ Festival, so the hallucinogenic noisesmiths in PRE left
it all on the floor. “I was moving around so much I felt like I might
puke if I kept going,” says singer Exceedingly Good Keex (née Akiko
Matsuura). “But after the show, I poured a pint of water on my head
and stole a bottle of whiskey from AIDS Wolf backstage, so I was fine.”
