“This is not a reunion,” declared David Lee Roth on the eve of Van Halen’s fall
tour. “This is a new band!” He’s right on several counts: Eddie’s healthy (and
apparently flying high), Diamond Dave is behaving, and Michael Anthony
has discovered the fountain of youth (wait—that’s Eddie’s son, Wolfgang). As
for the set list, Roth has said, “[It’s] all the songs you’ve been hearing blasting
out of the pickup trucks at Burger King over the last 20 summers.”
