What was your favorite album of the year? JOHN STANIER: Either Spoon’s Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga or the Radiohead record. DAVE KONOPKA: Dammit! I was going to say Radiohead, but John spoiled that for me. TYONDAI BRAXTON: I just heard the new Black Dice record, and I think it’s really good. I like the new M.I.A., as well.

What was the worst thing about 2007? BRAXTON: My frontal lobotomy, but I think I’m coasting in pretty nice. IAN WILLIAMS: Flying from London to Las Vegas. It gave me jet lag. KONOPKA: Jet lag sucks, but the war in Iraq and California burning are also up there. But we don’t want to rock the boat.

What was your favorite album of the year? I mostly listen to the artists on my label, Slamjamz. We did this tribute to James Brown that is my favorite this year. What was the worst thing about 2007? This was the year of the crumbling of the dollar. I never thought the Canadian dollar would surpass the U.S. dollar. I got my ass beat by the Euro and the pound. That’s amazing to me. What are you most looking forward to in 2008? Proper structure, organization, and management of hip-hip. The Rock the Bells tour did it this year because it was done the way it’s supposed to be done. There’s been so much negligence and laziness and greed in rap music by people who know better. We need to defeat that.
