GEORG ELSER HALLE, MUNICH, GERMANY The Mars Volta

Monday, March 3, 2008

Despite touring behind a new album (The Bedlam in Goliath) whose
recording was plagued by everything from bizarre injuries to angry ghosts,
the Mars Volta say their current live set falls firmly within their comfort
zone. “You wouldn’t believe it, but our shows are more energetic than ever
before,” says guitarist Omar Rodriguez- López. “If I could define it, I think we
don’t suffer anymore onstage. Now we’re much happier—we smile more.”
