As the Eagles of Death Metal, Hughes, Josh Homme, and their pals serve up cheeky party-rock that Hughes describes as “some sort of New Orleans burlesque show mixed with hip-hop and country.” Though the band just released their third album, Heart On (Downtown), Hughes is still awed by his success. “I didn’t do anything to be in a band,” he says. “I got divorced and wrote a few songs, and my best friend happened to be in the Queens of the Stone Age.”
