“It was a pain in the ass,” reports Stump about the making of Fall Out Boy’s new album, Folie à Deux (Island), which features cameos from Lil Wayne, Pharrell, and Elvis Costello. “We fought a lot. We were trying to make a satire, this ‘purpose record,’ and it’s a lot harder to see eye to eye when you have a purpose.” Happily, the experience didn’t leave permanent scars. “It was much more rewarding fighting, because ultimately, it’s all about the quality of the piece.”
