Of Montreal’s latest tour saw a bevy of golden Buddhas take to the stage every night to pay deference to frontman Kevin Barnes. Offstage, it was a different story. “My brother and my wife were in those costumes,” he explains, “and they’d always stop treating me like an emperor as soon as the show ended.” With that, the band’s mastermind lets out a sigh. “I tried not to take it personally.”
