Giant floating orbs are always a good time—for the crowd. “It’s bloody hard to sing when they’re being bashed back at you,” says Karl Hyde, frontman for the long-running electronica act. “The balcony at Brixton is pretty low. The balloons had nowhere to go except straight at us.” But there’s one audience for whom Hyde knows the balloons won’t fly. “They just don’t seem to go down well with a serious German techno crowd.” Ach du lieber!
