wanted to go out on top. It
didn’t quite work out that
way,” jokes Cassie Berman,
Silver Jews bassist and
wife of bandleader David
Berman. The long-running
indie-rock outfit recently
played its final show—300
feet under the ground.
“That was definitely a sad
night,” she admits, “but
it felt right to be saying
good-bye from such a
singular, weird place.”
