DAY 2

APRIL 8, 2009

4: 10 p.m. Erika Records office, Downey “These guys are making the vinyl of our album—I wanted to move into that hallway with the picture discs on the wall. We put out a hot-pink vinyl single for ‘Sex Bomb.’ When we wrote it, we were like, ‘This is gonna be in every strip club.’ ”

4: 12 P.M.

4: 40 p.m. Erika Records plant “That’s gnarly—if you can get your hand cut off pressing records, you’re a brave fucker coming to work every day. This is the closest we’re ever gonna get to holding a gold record, so we took advantage. We’re vinyl angels!”

4: 20 P.M.

4: 50 p.m. Erika parking lot “I don’t even smoke anymore, just when I have a couple drinks. I’m lucky ’cause I pretty much have the only gig where you can drink on the job.”

pink Duck Studios,
Burbank
“[Josh and I] built
this place two and a
half years ago, and
Spinnerette were the
first to pop their cherry
here. That mask was
just lying around the
studio.
My grand-
father was a world-
champion tag-team
wrestler—they were
called the Fabulous
Kangaroos, they were
from Australia, they
wore slouch hats and
carried boomerangs
and wrestled at
Madison Square
Garden, and then he
died in a trailer park
in Tallahassee. Josh
bought me the toy
gun, it weighs, like,
five pounds. That’s it.
Good night!”
